[info]dork_nerd and I seem to be planning a trip to Japan in early August! This surprises me! And is very exciting! I had always imagined airfare to be much more expensive than it turns out it is, so I guess I can afford it and am totally going to do it! Yaaay! Anybody out there want to recommend accommodations in Tokyo? Or any other advice? I figured out how to say I'm allergic to nuts in Japanese. So that's a start.
(Psssst [info]weyrlady are you going to be around in August? It would be awesome to see you!)

It will be a great reward for if I make it through summer camp season in one piece! I have doubts!

Man. I need to start having a "No watching Bleach until you accomplish something today" rule. The whole combination of super long and super addictive is not fair! This is why I should not have allowed myself to fall so far behind. And also why, once I had fallen behind, I should never have started watching it ever again. At least I only have like 50 episodes to go! *will not touch or even think about the manga*

Meanwhile... HOUSE!

Thanks for the well wishing on the interview. I think it went possibly good perhaps. As well as I ever do on interviews, anyway, which is maybe not great but it will have to do. It's a part time job, but it pays a bundle, so it would still be super nice to have. I don't think I'd move to DC for it, but plenty of people commute from Baltimore to DC and seem to survive. I think I can pull it off. Anyway, fingers continuing to be crossed. In October I turn 25 and won't be covered by my dad's insurance any more, so I hope I can figure out something benefitty by then. That'd be sweet.

Man I'm tired. I got like 4 hours sleep, and then went off on my grand DC interview adventure, and then straight from that to prereg pickup. This is going to be interesting... I don't think I've ever been this tired before the con even started. I think I'm going to go to sleep before 10:30 tonight. It will be fun. I haven't done that for ages.

*knows is sleepy babbling, but posts anyway, with slightly sincere apologies*

01:23 am - Media-fueled joy round up
Dr. Horrible! I remember being super excited about you for like a day a couple of months ago, but then I totally forgot you were going to happen! And I didn't remember until you actually had happened, which made you a wonderful surprise! Normally I'd feel shame for forgetting to obsessively count down to something so important, but that was actually kind of nice and I think I should do it more often.

New JCS movie at some point in the future! Don't suck! Dooooon't suuuuuck! *waves fist*

And while I'm at it... two future Sherlock Holmes movies! I'm sorry like the whole fandom hates you. I'll love you for always. And you can go ahead and suck. It's what makes you special.

FFIV on the DS! I'm so happy to hear that you have voice acting! I hope you attract a fandom. My pairing needs love.

Dragon Age! You look hot! You would totally kick my laptop's ass, wouldn't you? I'm hoping by the time you come out it will be new computer time anyway (no offense lappy)

Real life news round up: Today I had a delicious grilled cheese sandwich. Still no job. Avoiding the ever-increasing list of things that remind me that I need to handle student loan stuff (which I guess now includes this post. Go me!)

Just got in from an outdoor performance of Twelfth Night. Those of you in the Baltimore area may have noticed a degree of... weather. So you might think I'm about to complain or something, but actually, it was AWESOME. It was raining a tiny bit on and off for most of the show, which was only slightly annoying. The awesome part was how just when Feste stepped forward to do the ending soliloquy, the one where every other line is "With hey, ho, the wind and the rain" or "for the rain it raineth every day," total cloudburst. It also happened that they had some sort of New Orleans funeral march going on in the production, so like half of the actors conveniently had umbrellas. Anyway, it was hilarious. And also they didn't half to cancel the show half way through, so yay!

While I'm here, I think I may need to share some Doctor Who reactions )

Also, just finished Y: The Last Man. *cries a little*

Woo hoo free bus internet! I am so never taking Greyhound again!

EDIT: Also this bus has radio. At first I thought that might be annoying, but I changed my mind. I like it.

04:34 pm - MOFFAT!!
Starting in 2010, Doctor Who will be an actually good show rather than an occasionally good show. I am very excited about this. Very very.

Also, I am 4 pages away from done with grad school. More excited about the first one at the moment, though, because it has nothing to do with writing a paper. Which is made especially hard by having cut one of my most important typing fingers (right middle) (is also my mouse finger).

Expect GIP soon. *snuggles gimp*

07:18 pm - Done is Good
I don't think I've ever lj-ed done is good before, but I lack any other sort of public posting place and that is like the point. That and the candy. It may be a bit early yet, but I want one now. And that way there gets to be more on it. Which will make me feel happy when things get crossed off.

CogSci Report  (10 pages!)
CogSci Final Project (23 pages!!)
Engagement Final Project
Engagement Presentation (w00t)
Design video
Design Reflection Paper
Informal Project
Informal Presentation
Informal Reflection Paper
Job Applications (two down...)
Possibly find housing... depending on success of above

I haven't posted anything for 25 weeks! That's a lot of weeks. Anyway, working on a paper, needed to meme. From [info]spyderqueen

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first article title on the page is the name of your band.

2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.

3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

You then take the pic and add your band name and the album title to it, then post your pic.

I AM TOTALLY GOING TO HARVARD.

Very little else to say at this point... still kind of twitching.
But... Boston-type people? Hanging out next year? Yes?

04:50 pm - Emotions!
Harvard is silly and has an application deadline like a month earlier than the other programs I'm applying to. And wants a 1500 word statement of purpose (compared to 200 for Boston University). So I'm working on that now. And looking around the program's website to make sure my statement of purpose is full of me knowing stuff about the program. But it's hard. Because I keep reading things that make me full of emotions. Like the I WANT TO GET IN SOOOO BAD emotion. And then I just kind of have to wave my arms around for a while and not get much done. Like, look. I... I... waaaaant. But I'm pretty sure that's not how I should start my statement of purpose. How am I supposed to sound all smart-like when I am having EMOTIONS?

So... out of my system? Well, not really. But it helped a little. Thanks, livejournal.

I'd been planning on posting an entry on how much the last few days have sucked (Red Bull gives you a pain in the ass), but I'm actually in a remarkably good mood, so I figure, hey, happy post.

There's a documentary on International Sesame Street on Tuesday (which is also my birthday! Yaay!). If you're interested in that sort of thing, or curious about what I did with myself last summer, you should totally watch it. And tell me how great it is. And how great I am. It's on PBS's Independent Lens, so, you know, check your local listings. Local folks will find it on MPT at 9pm.

09:23 pm - OMG Puppies
Today we had a very special guest at the science center. That special guest went by the name of THIRTY PUPPIES. A 4H seeing eye puppy training group came. And there were puppies everywhere. The best part was how there were pirates outside. As there are twice a week, on pirate adventure cruise days. So there were 10 pirates playing with 30 puppies right outside the window. And it was the cutest and bestest thing ever. I wish I'd had a camera. I especially wish I'd been able to get a picture of the guy with the almost but not quite Jack Sparrow costume hugging three puppies.
